Halloween Family Fun in Santa Cruz

Family Time

These are some of the fun family activities that Aaron has discovered and would like to share:

Empire Cave (Empire Grade Rd, Santa Cruz).
Less than a mile past the West entrance to UCSC sits a concrete entrance on the right of the road that takes you down into a cavernous cave. Bring flashlights and an adventure awaits.

Capitola Beach (Esplanade and Monterey Ave, Capitola).
This is the best beach in Santa Cruz for kids to learn to boogie board and surf. The waves are always gentle. In the Summer, there is an equipment rental stand and live music on Wednesday night.

Neary Lagoon (Bay St and California St, Santa Cruz).
Stroll along the myriad floating pathways of this wildlife refuge. This hidden gem is a sanctuary for a variety of birds and ducks.

Home Depot Kids Workshop (2600 41st Ave, Soquel).

Henry Cowell Swimming Hole (Henry Cowell State Park Entrance on HWY 9, Felton).

Sanctuary Rock Gym (1855 East Ave, Sand City).
This climbing Gym is located near Monterey and welcomes kids of all ages, even as young as 1 year old. They have several auto belays where kids and grownups can climb on their own.

Dennis the Menace Playground (777 Pearl St, Monterey).
This is perhaps the greatest children's playground that was ever created. It is well worth the drive to Monterey. There is also an adjacent lake with paddle boat rentals.

Marina Sand Dunes (Lake Ct, Marina).
If you take the Del Monte exit, turn left on Palm, and left on Lake, you will arrive at the entrance to giant sand dunes. You haven't lived unless you've jumped down a sand dune with bare feet!.

Lairds Academy of Martial Arts (175 Walnut Ave, Santa Cruz).
No need to sit on the sidelines and watch your child; here you can participate and take classes alongside. Work your way towards a black belt together and get a great workout.

Wild Things (400 River Rd, Salinas).
Come take one of their year round 1pm tours, and visit and learn about the many wild animals that are trained and rescued here. Plus, you get to feed the elephants!
